Summer Pastoral Intern at Central Baptist Church

Overview

A pastoral intern at Central Baptist Church (CBC) will partner with ministerial and volunteer staff to impact Corbin, KY for eternity. Pastoral interns will spend the summer serving in various ministries at the Church, working with members of the pastoral and office staff, attend weekly discussions about theology and practical ministry issues and deliver two lessons/sermons. Ministry responsibilities will include social media, outreach ministry, preaching/teaching, children and student ministry, and community service ministries. Interns will be exposed to all areas of ministry and have the opportunity to shadow and work with all staff pastors.

Compensation

The Student Intern will be compensated monthly based on experience between $150 to $200 per week. The 2022 Summer internship will last from May 16 to July 22 (10 weeks).

Additionally, CBC commits to investing in the Intern by seeking to provide a holistic, spiritually healthy learning environment that will benefit him into the future. Some of the investment by CBC will include:

  • Regular coaching sessions with pastoral staff
  • Weekly involvement in staff meetings
  • Extra stipend for food and housing if not provided
  • Possible credit available through The University of the Cumberlands (Internship dates May 16-Aug 26)

Qualifications

  • A male that fulfills the qualifications of a pastor/elder/overseer as outlined in Titus 1:5-8 & 1 Timothy 3:1-6
  • Agree with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000
  • Sense that God may be calling you into bi-vocational, vocational or lay ministry
  • Be a team-player that actively seeks to serve the church and community

Responsibilities

  • Serve weekly in various ministries at CBC
  • Work closely with ministerial, pastoral and office staff
  • Weekly read assignments from Christian Beliefs by Wayne Grudem and The Pastor and Counseling by Jeremy Pierre & Depaak Reju 
  • Attend on time weekly pastoral discussions about ministry and theology
  • Prepare and deliver two lessons/sermons
